Who we are
The Balearic Islands Film Commission is a non-profit-making technical audiovisual body funded by the Balearic Islands' Regional Ministry of Tourism via the Balearic Institute of Tourism IBATUR, Palma de Mallorca and Calvia district councils, the Mallorcan Chamber of Commerce and the Island Councils of Minorca, and Ibiza and Formentera. The statutes of the Balearic Islands Film Commission allow other institutions on the Islands to be represented on its Management Committee.Our basic objectives
- The worldwide promotion of the Balearic Islands as an ideal location for filming audiovisual productions.
- To stimulate and strengthen the audiovisual industry on the Islands, as well as the ancillary services derived from it.
- To make the government, institutions and individuals aware of the benefits audiovisual production brings to the economy, society and culture of the community as a whole, with the aim of supporting measures that strengthen the audiovisual sector in the Balearic Islands.
What we do
- External promotion of the Balearic Islands as an ideal location for filming audiovisual productions.
- Facilitate the relationship between foreign audiovisual producers with producers, service companies and installations belonging to the audiovisual sector on the Islands by means of promotional events.
- Assist productions by supplying information on locations and on how to obtain filming permits and helping with the task of localisation.
- Maintain the website www.illesbalearsfilm.com with the aim of informing and advising producers and industry professionals, as well as offering a complete directory of the audiovisual sector and its support services on the Islands.
- Permanent contact with the community, production companies and the government.
Our conditions
All productions that have received assistance from the Balearic Islands Film Commission must include the name of the Commission in their credits, as well as the public or private sector organisations that also helped in the filming. Equally, once our collaboration has concluded, we request that producers complete and return to us a questionnaire asking them to evaluate our work and to make any appropriate observations.
